There’s something about that Kansas sky

Colors, hues, lampyridae

Bison, sunflowers along dirt roads

A paper boat upon Mill Creek floats

The darkest blue caught by the eye

There’s something about that Kansas sky

No yellow brick roads but red brick buildings

Lawrence, here, is the center of spirit

A spirit that’s free, forever looks west

A will that breaks at no one’s behest

The colours, the fresh air, it must be merit

There’s something about that Kansas sky

Ad Astra Per Aspera

Beyond the blue into a starry night
