With my feet on the dashboard

One that’s full, because I hoard

One that has a certain draw

What happend to high hopes?

Clinging to the last straw

Although it broke the camel’s back

Although it’s just a crack

In an otherwise perfect picture

An otherwise rageless mixture

What happend to high hopes?

When given the chance

To take a stance

I just stutter and stammer

With no regard for proper grammar

So what happend to high hopes?

They got their neck caught on a rope

Got broken while trying to cope

With such disappointment, such disillusionment

But weren’t it those hopes that once were illuminant?

What happened to high hopes?
